How can Europe make solar truly circular?

This was the central question behind the EVERPV workshop on “The Future of PV Circularity: Opportunities, Challenges and Market Pathways”, where experts from across the solar value chain came together to discuss the next steps for PV recycling, reuse and material recovery.

Over two days, we explored major advances in PV module recycling from mechanical delamination and backsheet removal technologies to high-value recovery of materials such as glass, silicon, silver, copper and aluminium.

The discussions showed that the industry is making strong progress, but also that scaling these solutions will require more than technology alone.

The workshop highlighted a clear market challenge: the volumes of end-of-life PV modules will grow significantly in the coming decades, creating both pressure and opportunity for Europe’s solar industry. To turn this challenge into an industrial opportunity, circularity must become part of Europe’s solar strategy.

A big thank you to all speakers, partners and participants for contributing to such a rich discussion on how Europe can build a more circular, resilient and sustainable solar sector.

Please, stay tuned for the full report on the workshop discussion which will be published in a couple of weeks.
